“Comet Bay is getting run through on Friday the 14th at 10.45am.

“Be careful.”

The facebook page profile features a clown and the page photo is of Comet Bay College.

The clown craze seems to have started in the US and involves people dressing up as clowns in public. There were reports of a clown asking for hugs in Mandurah on Thursday.

Theories behind the clown craze include a marketing campaign for the Film IT or a company using the clowns to market their product. The spread of the clown craze has been fuelled by social media.

Deputy Police Commissioner Stephen Brown said there was nothing illegal about people dressing as clowns.

“I don’t want to trivialise this.

“I don’t care if people are wearing a clown suit or not, as long as they’re having a good time.

“But if it transgresses into antisocial behaviour in these precincts we’ll come down on them like a tonne of bricks.”
