A retired couple won $1.5m after buying a Lotto ticket in Rockingham

A RETIRED couple have more than 1.5 million reasons to remember their WA holiday, after taking out a Division 1 prize in the weekend’s $22 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw.

The couple, who had been spending time with family in Rockingham, are the latest to visit the Lotterywest Winners Room after winning $1,571,428 on a ticket bought from Nextra Rockingham City Newsagency.

“I just couldn’t believe we had won, I couldn’t stop shaking or crying,” the wife said.

Despite not finding out the good news until Monday morning, the woman said she had a feeling in her bones after seeing where the winning tickets were sold.

The couple, who play Saturday Lotto every week, say they have been playing “since Lotto started” and are thrilled to have finally won a Division 1 prize.

Although the news was still sinking in, the winners say their focus will be on sharing their prize with their children and grandchildren.

“As long as our kids and their kids are looked after, that’s the main thing for us,” they said.

Travel is also on the horizon with the couple planning to visit the husband’s ancestral home in Scotland for the first time.
