Alcoa Kwinana employees volunteer at CircusWA

Jill BurgessWeekend Kwinana Courier

CIRCUSWA was given a helping hand when Alcoa employees volunteered their time at the Big Top in Fremantle.

The Kwinana Refinery volunteers relocated gates to secure the rear access to the Big Top and repaired and moved electrical lighting poles.

Thanks to the efforts of the team, CircusWA will also receive a $3000 Alcoans Coming Together in our Neighbourhoods (ACTION) grant.

CircusWA hosts workshops for children from remote and rural areas as well as reaching out to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing a safe, caring inclusive space for all to improve their health and fitness while having fun.

Alcoa employee Adam Bobojcov, who organised the ACTION event, said his daughter had attended the CircusWA for the past five years and he had seen firsthand the many great things it had done in the community.

Nearly 400 Alcoa employees will be involved in the ACTION program this year, volunteering for at least 1500 hours.

In recognition of its employees’ volunteering efforts, Alcoa will donate $144,000 to associated community organisations.
