Amorous Rockingham couple receives reprimand from Magistrate after getting close in court

Gabrielle JefferyWeekend Kwinana Courier

TWO impatient lovers decided to take matters into their own hands while waiting for their names to be called at Rockingham Magistrates Court today.

After sitting in the public gallery for a few hours, it appeared the pair’s affections for each other took over when a young woman decided to get intimate and sit on the lap of her partner, raising the ire of Magistrate Leanne Aitkins.

After confirming with the court orderly there were enough seats for everybody she spoke directly to the pair of lovers.

“Can you move to the seat next to you please? This is not a place where you take it to canoodle!” she said.

Prior to the romantic rendezvous a woman was reprimanded by the Magistrate for knitting.

The woman was later heard telling security she was shocked by the Magistrate’s order to remove her from the court.

“That was me, but I was not knitting – I was crocheting,” she said.
