An eight-year-old girl has passed away after a crash at Perth Motorplex

A GIRL injured after a crash at Perth Motorplex in Kwinana has passed away.

Anita Board (8) was driving a drag racing car for a test run at 12.20pm yesterday. At the end of the run she failed to stop and struck a cement barrier.

Anita received life threatening injuries and was taken to Rockingham General Hospital before being transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital. She was in a critical condition this morning and later passed away.

The Australian National Drag Racing Association issued a statement, saying association members were deeply saddened to confirm the passing of Junior Dragster competitor Anita Board following an on track incident during an event.

“Everyone at the Australian National Drag Racing Association extends its sincere and deepest condolences to Anita’s family, friends and the wider drag racing community at this tragic time,” the statement said.

“ANDRA will continue to work with VenuesWest and continue to assist police with their investigations while supporting Anita’s family.”

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was at the Motorplex who saw the crash, or has vision of the crash.
