Angus shows his agility in the highlands

Gabrielle JefferyWeekend Kwinana Courier

WEE Angus of Baldivis will be getting agile in September for the 2018 Armadale Highland Gathering and Perth Kilt Run.

His owner, Jody Forbes will put her little West Highland Terrier through his paces for an agility demonstration where fans of the sport can meet and greet with other Scottish dogs.

Meeting the Scottish dogs is a popular part of the event and also features the event mascot – Archie the dog.

Ms Forbes and Angus have been involved with agility training and demonstrations for the past four years.

Of Scottish heritage herself, she loves attending the event with her dadaidh (dad) previously playing the bagpipes as part of the pipe band competition.

“Angus and I really enjoy the event – although he’s a wee bit out of practise at the moment,” she said.

“It keeps him fit and stimulated he just loves it.”

The day will begin with the quirky Perth Kilt Run, with a choice of either the 2.5km Classic or the 5km Warrior runs.

After the run there will be bagpipe competitions, highland dancing, heavy events competitions, a medieval fair and clan village and Scottish arts and crafts.

The City of Armadale recommends planning ahead as it tends to be a large event and road closures will be in place.
