Anketell: man charged with drugs and firearm offences after car stop

POLICE have charged a 28-year-old man with drug and firearm offences after a vehicle stop along Thomas Road in Anketell overnight.

Around 10pm, police noticed a Mazda hatchback allegedly speeding near the Kwinana Freeway and stopped the driver.

During a search of the vehicle police allege officers located and seized a loaded handgun, a quantity of cash, numerous weapons, smoking implements, a disguise and other items associated with the sell/supply of prohibited drugs.

The driver has been charged with no authority to drive, possessing an unlawfully modified firearm, possessing an unlicensed firearms with drugs and possessing prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply.

He will appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court today.

One of the three passengers, a 28-year-old man from Huntingdale has also been charged with possessing an unlawfully altered firearm and will also appear today.

A 24-year-old man from Marangaroo and a 20-year-old woman from Waikiki will be summonsed on drug related offences.
