Australian Aged Pensioners Group founder drums up support in Rockingham

THEY have the numbers and now seniors are using social media to affect change.

Australian Aged Pensioners Group formed in January and already has almost 1500 Facebook followers.

The aim of the group is to fight for better pensions and conditions for the aged.

With many members living in Rockingham, founder Rick Browne visited the city to drum up support.

“More than a million pensioners are living in poverty,” he said.

“We represent 20 per cent of the population.

“If the politicians don’t listen to us, we may threaten to form a political party.”
