Baby manslaughter charge dropped for Rockingham dad

A Perth father accused of killing his own baby, who was found with broken bones, has had a charge of manslaughter dropped.

Dylan Clinton O’Meara (23) was charged after his seven-month-old son Shisui was found dead in his cot at their Rockingham home in April 2016.

But prosecutors dropped the case in the West Australian Supreme Court on Thursday, saying there was no reasonable prospect of conviction.

Outside court, defence lawyer Nick Scerri said Mr O’Meara now wanted to grieve for his son.

“He will forever be heartbroken at not being able to attend the funeral of his son,” Mr Scerri said.

Mr O’Meara also wanted to thank those who believed in him, the lawyer said.
