Baldivis among top in population boom

An estimated 27,000 people now call the once rural suburb home, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures released on Tuesday.

More than 3500 people moved to the suburb between 2013 and 2014, with its growth rate a whopping 14.9 per cent.

It seems like the boom will not end soon, with several major residential developments approved or pending approval in Baldivis.

Stockland Baldivis Shopping Centre also recently opened the first stage of its $116 million redevelopment with stage two due to open next month.

The Cities of Rockingham and Kwinana's combined population is an estimated 162,034.

Wandi in the City of Kwinana recorded the highest overall population growth, swelling by 17.9 per cent to 1790, due to the burgeoning Honeywood housing estate.

Overall, the City of Rockingham recorded 4 per cent growth with an estimated population in 2014 of 125,889.

The City of Kwinana recorded 5 per cent growth with an estimated population of 36,145.
