Finalists competed for the national title last week by baking a range of sweet and savoury goods, along with their own creation, which were judged on appearance, texture, aroma and of course, taste.

Ms Dwyer rose to the challenge and created her latest masterpiece, a seven seed, fruit and walnut loaf, to appeal to the judges.

“The competition was an opportunity for me to show the judges the skills I have developed from the Coles Baker Program and on the job training from the past year,” she said.

The awards were held in Melbourne and national winners in each category received $1000 in prize money.
