A BALDIVIS couple could not afford an umbrella before the weekend storm, now they are set for life.

The couple collected their first prize of $20,000 each month for the next 20 years on Friday.

The Baldivis couple said they learned they had won Set for Life after a visit to the shops to purchase an umbrella, which they really could not afford.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, said they needed an umbrella for the stormy weather forecast, but had spent their budget for the week.

“It was after that I checked my ticket,” she said.

“I was crying when I found out; it just felt so surreal.

“We’d only been talking about struggling to make our next mortgage repayment.

“It’s been quite tight for money and our small business has not been doing well for the last few years but that’s all about to change now.”

The couple said there were more opportunities now within reach.

“What we thought was unrealistic is now a reality,” the woman said.

“We’re going to spoil our parents, go on a family cruise, go fishing more, deck out our house and even buy a top of the range barbeque.”

The winning ticket from the May 17 Set for Life draw was purchased from The Lucky Charm Baldivis.
