Baldivis Fires Started by Lightning Strikes

LIGHTING has started five spot fires in Baldivis.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said there was a watch and act alert for residents in the vicinity of Karnup and Serpentine Roads.

The out of control fire is moving fast in a Westerly direction and is unpredictable.

The safest route out is north on Serpentine Road.

She said 50 firefighters were at the scene.

The alert was issued at 3.05pm.

She said they were watching it and would issue another alert within two hours if necessary or earlier should the situation change.

“The DFES website is crashing due to the large number of hits it is receiving, so be patient,” she said.

“We will provide further updates when we get them.”
