Developer Spatial Property Group is progressing the relocation of around 150 kangaroos from Paramount Estate in Baldivis to the state forest south-west of Baldivis.

Baldivis kangaroos to be moved not killed

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions will be working alongside the developers throughout this process, providing specialist expertise and running a post-release research project.

“Their new home will be a jarrah forest with plenty of food and water,” Mr Whitby said.

“I am pleased that months of work has resulted in an agreement to relocate the kangaroos to a sustainable new home.

“Local residents are compassionate and they have always wanted the welfare of these kangaroos to be the top priority.

“I understand the community’s interest in the relocation but would ask people to keep a safe distance to minimise stress on the animals during this challenging operation.

“I want our community to be informed about the relocation so I am pleased there will be a community update in Baldivis.”

The community update will be held in Baldivis on Monday afternoon at 5.30pm so members of the community can seek further information on aspects of the operation from DBCA scientists and wildlife officers.
