Baldivis man (23) charged after allegedly leading police on chase through southern suburbs

A 23-year-old Baldivis man has been charged after a police chase through several suburbs, including Kwinana, on Saturday.

Police said officers attempted to stop a Hyundai sedan on Phoenix Road, Spearwood just before 5pm.

It will be alleged when police activated their lights and sirens the vehicle accelerated away at speed.

Police claim the Hyundai continued through numerous suburbs including Spearwood, Hamilton Hill, Munster, Wattleup, Kwinana and Parmelia in an attempt to evade police before the driver lost control in Pitt Lane, Bertram.

The Hyundai crashed into a parked vehicle at low speed.

Police said the driver attempted to run, but was apprehended by officers at the scene.

Cohen Tremayne Walley was charged with failing to stop, reckless driving, no authority to drive, assaulting a public officer and recording a blood alcohol reading in excess 0.05.

He appeared in Perth Magistrates Court yesterday and his next appearance is June 6.
