Baldivis principal WA Education Awards finalist

BALDIVIS Secondary College principal Keith Svendsen is a finalist in the WA Education Awards.

Mr Svendsen is vying for the WA Secondary Principal of the Year title.

“I am elated and very humbled,” he said.

“My aim is to be inclusive and I always try and get a win-win for everyone concerned. I get great satisfaction in seeing people achieve their goals and aspirations.”

Mr Svendsen said his aim was to provide opportunities for students, teachers and parents to grow and learn.

He has 32 years’ experience in education and has been the principal at Baldivis Secondary College since 2013.

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery said the WA Education Awards were an opportunity to acknowledge inspiring teachers, outstanding principals, excellent school support staff and successful Western Australian public schools.

“I think every one of us can remember a stand-out teacher or other staff from our school days – and today’s group of educators is being rightly acknowledged for the mark they are making on students’ lives,” she said.

“Providing a high-quality education and equipping students for their futures are truly valuable endeavours, and I’m proud to recognise our finalists for their expertise and innovation.”

The winners will be announced in November.
