Baldivis woman charged after police chase

A BALDIVIS woman is due to appear in court on a string of driving charges after a police chase through Perth suburbs yesterday.

Mirrabooka detectives claim they saw a green Hyundai Excel hatchback with stolen plates in Morley at about 1pm.

Police claim they tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver accelerated away at speed. The vehicle was followed through several suburbs before the driver and passenger abandoned the vehicle in South Perth.

A cordon was established with the assistance of numerous units and both were located and arrested a short time later.

The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old woman from Baldivis was charged with failing to stop, reckless driving, no authority to drive, unlicensed vehicle, false number plates, stealing and breach of bail.

She was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.

The passenger of the vehicle, a 35-year-old man from Midland, has been charged with two counts of stealing. He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.

The vehicle has been impounded for 28 days.
