Bertram man arrested after multiple assaults and damaging vehicles

A 50 YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after he assaulted two women and damaged cars in Bertram on Sunday night.

At roughly 5.30pm, a shirtless man riding a white motorcycle stopped on Million Way and started damaging cars parked outside a house.

The man then assaulted residents who came out to investigate, before he rode away and stopped on Millbrook Avenue shortly afterwards.

He then attacked two women passing by who thought his motorcycle had broken down and tried to assist him.

He knocked one of the women to the ground and kicked her numerous times, fracturing her elbow and causing a suspected fractured eye socket. She was taken to hospital and is now in a stable condition.

The man was charged with seven counts of criminal damage or destruction of property, three counts of common assault and two counts of threatening to injure, endanger or harm any person.

He was also charged with aggravated burglary with intent, threatening to kill, endangering the life, health or safety of a person, causing bodily harm and assaulting a public officer.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear in the Rockingham Magistrates Court today.
