A MEMORIAL garden was officially opened at Bethanie in Port Kennedy on Wednesday.
Residents gathered for a memorial service to pay respects to departed residents at the garden.
The idea for the memorial garden was raised in a residents’ meeting 18 months ago.
Chaplain Barry Austin formed a committee to research the idea and presented a proposal to Bethanie, which acted on the request.
Mr Austin said the memorial garden was a fantastic project to honour the departed residents and clients from Bethanie Waters.
“The memorial service will be a fantastic opportunity for family members and friends, along with residents and staff, to come down and remember loved ones and be a part of the service,” he said.
Construction of the memorial garden started in September and has taken several months of intensive work to complete.
