Business found to be non-compliant

Complaints from a neighbour brought the matter to the City of Kwinana’s attention and the City called for the business to close or lodge a request for retrospective development approval.

A request was lodged in October and the City granted approval on Wednesday, March 11, at the full council meeting.

The landscaping business is on Thomas Road in Casuarina, within the Jandakot Water Mound.

The site includes a hardstand area, parking for three trucks, a transportable building for storage and the existing building was converted without a building permit from a caretaker’s residence to a business office, so a retrospective building approval certificate will also be required.

The hardstand area was built partly over a Resource Enhancement Wetland and this must be moved outside the wetland area.

Approval is also required from the WA Planning Commission.

Conditions for approval by the council include the onsite collection and disposal of stormwater drainage, among other things.
