Child indecent assault accused bailed after failing to appear in court

A 38-YEAR-OLD man accused of indecently assaulting a six-year-old girl at the Aqua Jetty Warnbro was picked up on an arrest warrant after breaching his bail.

Stephen Anthony Allum failed to appear at Rockingham Magistrates Court on September 5 following his arrest by Child Abuse Squad detectives on August 30.

Appearing in custody before Magistrate Leanne Atkins on September 23, the Warnbro man was charged with two counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13 and a breach of his bail.

His lawyer said Mr Allum had failed to appear as he worked away on the Wheatstone Project near Onslow. He was granted $5000 bail with similar surety and was not required to enter a plea.

Magistrate Atkins put stringent conditions on his bail including he not approach or contact the victim or their family, surrender his passport and not apply for a new one, not work with children and not enter the Aqua Jetty.

He is due to re-appear in court on October 30.

Police said the victim was not related or known to Mr Allum.
