City comes of age

As part of its commemorations to honour Kwinana’s 60th anniversary, City of Kwinana hosted a high tea for long-term residents and local dignitaries at Darius Wells Library and Resource Centre.

Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said most of the attendees at the event had lived in Kwinana for more than 50 years.

‘We wanted to celebrate and honour this milestone with pioneers of Kwinana,’ she said.

Cr Adams said Kwinana had become a thriving municipality.

‘Kwinana has gone from a tiny industrial town to a bustling outer metropolitan city,’ she said.

‘It is culturally diverse and boasts 50 new Australians each month.

‘It is the people who make Kwinana great and it still has a small town community feel to it, which makes it unique.’
