THE City of Rockingham’s Community Plan Vision, Community Aspirations and Strategic Objectives (2019-2029) were officially endorsed at the Council meeting on September 25.

The City held a series of planning for the future workshops between February and May where the community shared what they valued most about Rockingham and what they wanted the City to aspire to be over the next 10 to 20 years.

More than 500 sets of inputs were received during this process, which included feedback from a range of groups including local businesses, schools, community members of a local charity, the City’s Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee and a working group of Rock Port subscribers.

Mayor Barry Sammels said the Community Plan Vision, Community Aspirations and Strategic Objectives (2019 to 2029) outlined the community’s vision for the City over the next decade and would help guide the City’s future strategic planning.

“The City thanks the community for their support and involvement and looks forward to working closely with residents over the next 10 years to help fulfil the community aspirations,” he said.

The Community Plan Vision, Community Aspirations and Strategic Objectives (2019-2029) are underpinned by four key aspirations. These include actively pursuing tourism and economic development, growing and nurturing community connectedness and wellbeing, plan for future generations and deliver quality leadership and business expertise.

The 2019-2029 Strategic Community Plan will be released in January 2019.
