City of Rockingham supports Class A classification for Cape Peron Reserve

City of Rockingham support for Cape Peron Reserve being transferred to Class A was passed unanimously at Tuesday night’s meeting.

Cape Peron is currently Class C with a purpose of ‘recreation’.

Council passed Councillor Joy Stewart’s motion that the classification change be subject to the Purposes of the Reserve being clearly defined through the transparent and collaborative consultation process.

Class A classification will allow Council to lobby State Government departments to determine the best and most sustainable long-term future land uses and management of Cape Peron.

Support for the change to Class A reflects the high conservation and community value of Cape Peron Reserve.
