City to spend $1m on stormwater drains

Flooding has occurred at all locations along the catchment areas over recent years, causing complaints from residents and businesses.

At an ordinary meeting of Council earlier this month, councillors voted to accept a tender submission to the value of $809,815.22 excluding GST provided by CR Civil to undertake the works in Calista and Kwinana Beach.

Locations will include Calista Avenue, Blay Road, Bright Road and Isaac Way, the Isaac Way sump and Thorpe Way.

CR Civil was also awarded the Orelia works subject to funds being approved in the 2013-2014 financial year budget and CR Civil’s price of $253,114.71 excluding GST remaining valid to undertake the works in early July 2013.

The city is proposing to introduce a budget variation of $50,000 to help pay for the works.
