Centre co-ordinator Natalie McLaren said that without a new chairman, the centre’s future was unknown and possibly at risk.
‘Without a committee, we won’t operate, so not having a chairperson could have dire consequences,’ Ms McLaren said.
The successful centre has been supporting local groups for 21 years.
Mr Brown has held the voluntary position for about six years, but has been a member of the committee for about 12 years.
He said the present committee had achieved a good financial position for the centre, which had a wide variety of user groups.
