Rockingham: Kwinana can’t take our land for Indian Ocean Gateway

Stuart HortonWeekend Kwinana Courier

Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the committee recommendation to make the request, as well as directing the chief executive to make clear the City’s opposition to the draft to Premier Colin Barnett.

The committee also recommended the City request the State Government to consider re-establishing a committee to oversee the Western Trade Coast Zone, and for the chief executive to inform major government and industry stakeholders of the City’s land use.

Rockingham councillors were angry with Kwinana’s draft as it included the use of industrial land in east Baldivis, within Rockingham’s border, without consulting City of Rockingham first.
