CREW charity targeted by thieves

A CHARITY group that helps homeless and those facing financial challenges has been left devastated after a spate of thefts from its premises.

Christians Ready Equipped & Willing Incorporated (The CREW Inc) were targeted earlier this month.

Administration officer Chrissie Vielle said staff and volunteers were disappointed.

“It extremely saddens us, especially because we are a charity that offers support and services to those struggling in Rockingham and Kwinana,” she said.

A ute they had recently bought to collect donations had its spare wheel stolen in the early hours of June 4.

Just a couple of days later the container they used to store excess items was broken into, with the heavy-duty padlock cut through.

Two reverse-cycle airconditioners still in their original packaging that were planned to be installed in CREW’s premises were taken.

Thieves later tried to take the rest of the wheels off the ute.

To donate to the CREW, visit Unit 3/2 Smeaton Way, Rockingham, or call 9592 4648.

Opening hours are Wednesdays to Fridays, 10am to 4pm.
