Students learning Japanese at the school have been given the opportunity to learn Taiko drumming for the second year running.

Last Tuesday, they performed at the end-of-semester assembly.

The students have been learning this form of ensemble hand-drumming under the supervision of their Japanese teacher, Yukari Tsuzuki.

Music teacher Corinne Brokken said the students were so dedicated they rehearsed in their lunch hour.

‘I think they’re great. It’s choreographed drumming, so it’s about the rhythm and the movement, plus there’s lots of vocalising,’ she said.
