IT was a case of dj vu for Brand MHR Madeleine King when she visited Safety Bay Senior High School last week.

Ms King was at her old high school to speak to year nine and 10 students in the Pathfinder Academic Excellence Program about the Australian Parliament and politics.

“It was fantastic to visit the Pathfinders students and their teachers,” Ms King said.

“I was really impressed with how engaged both classes were in their political studies.”

Safety Bay Senior High School Pathfinder Academic Excellence Program Coordinator Kirstie Young-Evans said having Ms King talk to the class and answer questions was a great opportunity for the students.

“This term our students are focusing on democracy and active citizenship, so being able to speak directly to our local member of Parliament is such a great opportunity to bring politics to life,” Ms Young-Evans said.

Ms King visits schools as part of her schools programs where she talks to students and answers their questions about politics and the parliament.

Schools can contact Ms King’s office on 9527 9377 if they would like to be part of this program.
