A DOGGY day care centre with a difference has opened in Rockingham.

Pampered pooches are looked after in bright and colourful surrounds, reminiscent of a Playschool set. Not only is there daycare, pooches can have sleepovers at the owner’s home if boarding is required. Other services include a canine cab, grooming, photography, training and outings.

Yappy Days Doggy Daycare owner Janice Chandler said the service was for small fur babies. “Doggy daycare is still an embryonic industry in Australia, as our pets are being treated more and more like family members,” she said. “Indeed to those without children or empty nesters – they are their children.” The Yappy Days Facebook page features pampered “guests” on outings to the dog park. The Dog Taxi service is for clients unable to drop off or pick up their dogs by closing time. “Our pooches are transported in air conditioned comfort in the summer months and all dogs are secured into their seats by harnesses and leads,” Ms Chandler said The training service varies from basic training to advanced behaviour training and education for puppies, seniors, disabled dogs. Pooches can even star in a photo shoot after they’ve been pampered and preened. “I take pride in providing humans with beautiful photographs of their pets they can treasure for many years to come,” Ms Chandler said. The Yappy Days venue can also be hired for doggy birthday parties, complete with birthday cake and special treats.
