Don’t mangle our coast

Speaking to several hundred people at a rally organised by Hands Off Point Peron on Sunday, Senator Ludlam said those opposed to the marina proposed by Cedar Woods and LandCorp were standing on the shoulders of the country’s long-running environmental campaigns.

‘In 2014, it is actually legal to do what these people are proposing to do and dump this gargantuan and very unwelcome and misguided canal estate on top of a precious coastline,’ he said.

‘This is a place that is precious to us and too precious to lose.

‘The people who stopped Ningaloo Reef from being wrecked by a resort, people who kept the place uranium mining-free, people who stopped the damming of the Franklin’
