BOOKS for Kids week begins on Monday with Orelia Primary School students to receive a literacy boost from a new campaign.

Bookseller Dymocks are running the ‘Books for Kids’ campaign, where next week Dymocks Garden City will donate $1 from every children’s book bought to Orelia Primary School.

Orelia Primary was chosen as the beneficiary of a Library Regeneration – meaning Dymocks Children’s Charities will double the value of funds raised by both stores in brand new books for the school library.

The program aims to improve the students’ literacy skills by offering a wide range of stories and promoting daily reading for pleasure.

Ann Poublon, Dymocks Franchise owner, said they were committed to supporting literacy at a local level.

“Ensuring that all Australian children reach an appropriate level of literacy remains one of Australia’s greatest challenges,” she said.

“We know that reading is an essential life skill and supporting children’s literacy is a key component of our community engagement.

“We’re proud to be working with Dymocks Children’s Charities to provide Orelia Primary School with new and engaging books for their students.

“Reading a good book is one of life’s great pleasures and our customers love nothing more than buying books for their kids. During Books for Kids week they can help share the life changing impact of books with kids who need it most.

“We’re encouraging all our customers and community to get involved.”

Dymocks Books for Kids Week runs from August 4 -12.
