Elderly man dies after crashing into pole

AN elderly man has died in hospital after the hatchback he was driving crashed into a power pole in Perth’s south.

Police say the 77-year-old man’s hatchback veered to the wrong side of the road on Darile Street, Hillman just after 1pm on Thursday before colliding with the wooden pole, causing moderate damage to the front of the car.

The Cooloongup man was taken to Rockingham Hospital, where he died.
