‘EVIL 8’ paedophile member Ryan Trevor Clegg was caught last year on CCTV dumping industrial and other rubbish in East Rockingham.

Clegg appeared in Rockingham Magistrates Court via video link from Acacia prison, where he is serving a 12 years and nine months sentence for abusing a 12-year-old girl.

He had earlier sent an endorsed plea of guilty to discharging or abandoning solid or liquid waste on a place other than water to which the public has access.

The Environment Department Prosecutor said the offence happened on March 22, 2016.

He said CCTV recorded a Holden rodeo ute laden with rubbish drive to a site on Mandurah Road, East Rockingham at 12.15pm.

Items on the ute included industrial vacuum cleaners, welding equipment, piping, swimming pool fences and other materials.

Later at 12.42pm the CCTV recorded the ute leaving empty.

The prosecutor handed several photos to Magistrate Leanne Atkins.

He said the owner of the property Landcorp WA had not given Clegg permission to dump waste on the site.

The maximum penalty for an offence of this nature is a $62,000 fine.

The prosecutor said dumping waste on the outskirts of suburbs posed a hazard to the environment and the hefty fine was intended to be a significant deterrent.

Magistrate Atkins acknowledged Clegg had sent an endorsed plea to the court on April 11.

“Your letter stated the offence happened during one of the worst times of your life and you had depression,” she said.

Clegg was fined $3000 and ordered to pay $762 in state solicitor fees.
