A ‘FACEBOOK’ famous youth who was found guilty of raping a 14-year-old girl and threatening to send nude pictures to her family has been jailed for five years and four months.

He will be eligible for parole.

Rhian Lee Ryan appeared for sentencing at Perth District Court after being found guilty of the detainment and rape of a girl he had friended through social media.

A 12 member jury previously found Ryan guilty of the threat with intent to compel the doing of an act, assault occasioning bodily harm and two counts of aggravated sexual assault deprivation of liberty.

Due to the two rape charges he was inadvertently found guilty of sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16.

The victim gave compelling evidence to the trial through a pre-recorded video, detailing Ryan’s threats before he raped and assaulted her.

He raped her, punched her in the ribs when she tried to leave, biting her hand and drawing blood.

She described how Ryan called her “a slut and a tramp” and threatened to have people beat her up in public.

“You have traumatised these young girls,” Judge Stephen Scott said during sentencing.

“It’s an insidious byproduct of Facebook that people can do and say what they want with no consequences.

“One wonders when Facebook will take remedial action to remove these kinds of comments.

“You showed a complete disdain for these girls in your behaviour.

“The community needs to know that those who steal the innocence of young girls will be properly punished.”
