The project reaches out to children living without shelter on the street or in substandard housing classified as slums.

Laurence’s endeavour is already gaining a lot of traction within the community. During the Easter long weekend he placed donation tins on shop counters.

He also has a Go Fund Me page that has tallied more than $500 and has been training to prepare for his ride.

“I’ve been doing lots of training,” Laurence said.

“The other day I did 50km. It was hard work but I never gave up.”

Laurence’s mother Lisa could not be more proud of her son.

“He is full of energy and has a true desire to make a difference in the world through hard work and determination,” she said.
