C3 Church in Port Kennedy is finalising plans for what it expects will be the biggest celebration yet.

C3 business manager Toya Holloway said the event usually cost about $60 per head to put on. It is sponsored by the City of Rockingham and Lotterywest, with the remainder contribut-ed by the congregation.

‘We had a lot of people coming in around Christmas time asking for food hampers because they couldn’t afford to hold their own celebration,’ Ms Holloway said.

‘It’s hard because as a church you do want to help, but the demand was too high.

‘This way rather than helping individuals we’re helping a lot of people ” including people who are on their own at Christmas.’

‘We now advertise it for people who are either struggling financially or who are alone on Christmas Day.

‘We do a traditional Christmas meal with turkey, roast vegetables, a dessert and then we have Santa visit, and everyone gets a present..

‘We’re also hoping to have live entertainment.’

The event at 5 Stockton Road, Port Kennedy, runs from noon and RSVPs are appreciated.

The organisation is also looking for a family-friendly musician or band to donate entertainment on the day.
