Fire guts Wellard house, causing $350,000 damage

A FIRE at a house in Wellard caused about $350,000 damage last night.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel were called to the blaze at a house on Hurn Rise at 8.40pm.

Reports were that a fridge caught alight. The fire soon extended into the roof space and engulfed the house.

About four DFES appliances attended the scene and the fire was extinguished at 9.25pm.

There were no injuries, but Western Power and a chaplain were called to the scene.
