Golden Bay: good turn out for Day at the Bay event

MORE than 300 people turned out in perfect weather to enjoy the second annual Day at the Bay at the Golden Bay Foreshore last Saturday

The event celebrated youth within the Golden Bay community, taught them skills and techniques for life and engaged them in positive community activities.

This year there was an array of family fun activities with tie-dyeing workshops and the chance to paint a car proving favourites among kids.

Some faced their fear of heights and took to the high-ropes course, while others learned how to service and look after their bikes.

There was also support from local suppliers and businesses including the Singleton Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, who invited community members to test out the fire sirens and fire hose.

Coastcare was also on hand, and showed how best to plant a sustainable garden with local natives.

Youth mental health foundation headspace attracted a crowd with their DJ spinning tracks.

A sausage sizzle was provided and local suppliers Monkey Beanz and That Little Van provided coffee and shaved ice.
