Grain fills ship holds

Grain shipments are on track to eclipse last year’s total with 4.3 million tonnes already passing through the CBH port on its way to countries in Asia and the Middle East.

CBH spokeswoman Nikki Wilson-Smith said most grain arrived by rail to the Kwinana terminal from growing zones across southern WA.

‘The record season has been attributed to a mild and wet spring, predominantly in the Albany and Epserance zones,’ she said.

‘Grain is transported to the Kwinana terminal from various sites and exported to customers throughout the world.

The State harvest total is expected to reach 15.8 million tonnes by the end of this month.
