KWINANA Requatic’s main pool has been retiled and refilled but is waiting for sign-off from the Department of Health before it can reopen to the public.
A problem with the pool’s original tiling was discovered when the centre closed last year for refurbishment, delaying the expected re-opening of the main pool by six months.
The pool took seven days to slowly fill by hose to keep the pressure in check. Chemicals will now be balanced and the pools heated.
When the Courier visited Kwinana Recquatic on Tuesday, the grandstand was finished, and new railings and lights in.
The spa works are expected to be finished next week, then the Department of Health needs to sign off to confirm everything is up to standard.
The centre hopes to be able to reopen the main pool mid-July.
