Help kids stay safe

Katelyn Booth, Weekend CourierWeekend Kwinana Courier

Safety House has been running in Kwinana since the early 80s and has 40 houses involved in the program.

The houses are in Bertram, Orelia, Medina and Wellard.

Mr Cadman says the program’s main aim was to provide safe places for children to seek out if they felt at risk, particularly when walking to and from school.

‘There have been too many abduction attempts on youngsters in the Rockingham and Kwinana areas lately and I am concerned,’ he said.

‘The City of Kwinana has been a strong supporter of Safety House here in Kwinana and the last grant gave three schools within Kwinana the chance to have a Safety House show for the students.’

Mr Cadman said that, like many voluntary organisations, he was having trouble finding volunteers to help with the program. Contact him at johncadman@optusnet.com.au.
