Attending the ceremony was Transport Minister Dean Nalder, who expressed his delight at the opening of WA’s first service centres located on a major highway.

Mr Nalder and BP Australasia president Andy Holmes cut the ribbon in front of a crowd of dignitaries including Planning Minister John Day, City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels and City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams.

The service centres, which also house McDonald’s and Red Rooster, are located between Mundijong Road and Safety Bay Road on Kwinana Freeway north and south.

More than 250 staff are employed by the centres, in which BP invested $40 million. They took 60,000 man hours to complete.

In its first operational month, 4.4 million litres of fuel and 50,000 cups of coffee were sold at the two servos.
