HMAS Stirling sailors hold Christmas function at the Malibu School

A CREW of sailors and officers from HMAS Stirling hosted a Christmas function at the Malibu School.

The sailors also handed over a cheque for $2700 that they had raised during the year to go towards specialised play equipment.

Principal Noelene Mason said the school had a strong 23-year relationship with the navy base.

“We are blessed and incredibly grateful to all of the personnel at HMAS Stirling who donate over the year,” Ms Mason said.

“Their generosity is deeply appreciated.

“This year the donation is going towards purchasing some play equipment that will allow our students with complex needs to use and interact with.”

Ms Mason said students’ families also joined in the activities.

“This is a wonderful celebration of a community coming together,” she said.

The commanding officer of HMAS Stirling, Captain Brian Delemont presented the cheque to the school, while sailors and officers cooked a delicious lunch and played with students.

Personnel contributed to the fund during the year by paying a gold coin donation when they wore civilian clothing to work on Fridays.
