Honey Birdette Rockingham “highly inappropriate”: local mum

A ROCKINGHAM mother is angry lingerie and sex toy store Honey Birdette is in Rockingham Shopping Centre, describing the shop front as “distasteful” and “highly inappropriate.”

“Adult only items are in plain view,” she said.

“The advertising has gotten worse with not only showing images of women in provocative lacy lingerie, has now escalated to leather.

“What’s next?”

The mother said she could see restraints in the cabinet of the counter from the front entrance of the shop.

“The shop contents should and needs to be blocked off from passing people,” she said.

“This is a family shopping centre for goodness sake.”

The mother said the shop should be moved to a less public area or at least the shop front toned down.

She has raised her objections to the store manager, centre management and local politicians.

The mother hopes to start a petition.

The Honey Birdette website describes their products as “carefully detailed lingerie to high-end toys for the bedroom.”

“Honey Birdette will guide you through everything you need for the pleasure parlour.”

Vicinity Centre general manager Brendon Phillips said Honey Birdette was a lingerie chain that was represented in shopping centres throughout Australia.

“Any complaints about the operation of the business should be directed to Honey Birdette,” he said.

A Honey Birdette spokeswoman declined to comment.
