Penguin Island’s happy feat: Guinness World Record

Stuart HortonWeekend Kwinana Courier

About 500 human-sized penguins will waddle up the sands of Rockingham’s most popular tourist destination for a record-breaking island gathering.

Rockingham Wild Encounters and the City of Rockingham hope to break the Guinness world record for most people dressed in penguin suits gathered in one place, which currently stands at 373 people.

Mayor Barry Sammels said the Penguin Outburst was a light-hearted attempt to take a peck at a record.

“It’s great to be able to offer this event to the community, it’s a fun thing to be a part of,” he said. “It would be great if we can break this record.”
