It’s Silver service from Alcoa volunteers

THE Silver Chain aged-care facility in Rockingham received a makeover when eight employees from Alcoa’s Kwinana Refinery painted the centre.

The activity was part of the company’s signature volunteering event Month of Service in October.

The volunteers spent the morning prepping the centre’s external walls. The team sanded back old paint, filled holes and sprayed the walls clean. They then gave the walls a fresh coat of paint.

Excited to have a new look and change in colour, centre co-ordinator Mandy Holmshaw said the assistance of Alcoa volunteers had been motivating.

Already employees have volunteered with WA Mountain Bike Association, St Patrick’s Primary School, Port Kennedy Primary School and Serpentine Pony Club. Further volunteering is planned for Bungaree Primary School, Kwinana Lawn Bowls Club, Rockingham City Football Club and Mangles Bay Fishing Club.
