Jasmyn nominated for her courage

The North Parmelia Primary School student was diagnosed with a condition called osteogenesis imperfecta at a young age but does not let it affect her passion for sports.

Jasmyn attends her local little athletics every Saturday morning and enjoys getting involved with her friends.

It was her strong spirit and determination to achieve her own personal bests that led her nanna Kay Haynes to nominate her for the HBF Junior Sports Heroes competition.

Her enthusiasm for little athletics has landed her a nomination.

Mrs Haynes said she was extremely proud of Jasmyn for her constantly showing positivity despite her disability.

‘While sometimes she finds it difficult, especially after her treatment (infusions), once completed she always continues to fight on,’ she said.

‘She demonstrates constantly the positive ability a child with certain disabilities can and will achieve their goals in a sports activity.

‘It’s not the principle of winning, but to achieve your own personal best.’
