A FIRST-time jump from a plane was nothing compared to losing her mother to breast cancer for Jessica Ackland.

Ms Ackland recently parachuted on to Rockingham Beach after taking the plunge from about 4km (14,000ft) up to raise money for Breast Cancer Care WA (BCCWA).

Taking part in the annual Jump for Jane fundraiser, Ms Ackland raised more than $7000 on her own, with the event raising more than $50,000 total this year.

“During the time my mother was being treated for breast cancer, BCCWA were a huge support,” she said.

“I’m so happy to be able to give back to BCCWA so they can continue to support all the other families out there fighting for their loved ones.”

This was the third year the Jump for Jane has taken place and was by far its most successful, with the $50,000 raised pushing the total amount raised in its history to more than $100,000.
